Hazardous signaling & detection experts

Meet the Team

The Signal Source provides engineered fire and life-safety signaling solutions for hazardous and classified locations. Founded in 1995 by industry veteran Rhett Day, the company is built on decades of experience in fire alarm distribution, hazardous-location equipment, and real-world industrial life-safety applications.

Rhett’s career in the industry began in 1980 with the founding of A&R Systems, a fire alarm distribution company representing leading manufacturers including Siemens, Edwards, and Gamewell. He later served for decades in leadership roles within the California Automatic Fire Alarm Association (CAFAA) - the largest and oldest fire alarm association in the United States - helping build lasting relationships across the fire alarm and life-safety industry.

Today, The Signal Source focuses exclusively on Class I, II, and III hazardous-area signaling equipment, including notification appliances, initiating devices, and detection devices supporting fire and life-safety systems across oil & gas, petrochemical, industrial processing, THC extraction and marine environments.

Every solution we supply is selected to meet applicable NFPA, NEC, UL, FM, ATEX, and IECEx standards - ensuring compliance, reliability, and long-term performance in the harshest operating conditions. Our team provides the application expertise and code-driven guidance needed to specify and deploy the correct signaling equipment for each project.

Since 2020, The Signal Source has been part of E2S, a global leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance audible and visual signaling equipment for harsh and hazardous environments. With manufacturing operations in London and a distribution and sales hub in Houston serving the Americas, E2S provides the global engineering expertise and resources behind our solutions.
